Family Portrait

So, after Mommy spent most of yesterday hanging out with Mirabel, Daddy got to spend some quality time holding her! Our nurse was kind enough to take a family photo.  Hopefully today it will be my turn (it's not easy to get her out of bed with her ventilator tubes and such).

Everything seems to be progressing well - her valve looked better in the Echo from Monday, and her lungs are looking better in her Xrays, so they're once again weaning her off the ventilator. Since she's been on it for awhile they're going to take their time, but she took the adjustment yesterday like a trooper!

They've also upped her calories and she's at full feeds now through her tubes. We're working on getting her to remember how to suckle so that once the doctors say it's okay we can try to feed her a little more naturally. :D

We're praying for Mirabel! Grandma Arlene gave me the link to your blogspot so we can follow Mirabel's progress. Let Mirabel know that she has a little friend on the East Coast with the same kind of scar from her open heart surgery on 9/16/08. We know what you're going through. When Madison was having her surgery, I came across a quote at the Ronald McDonald house we were staying in: "God gives special children to special parents."

God bless and sending prayers and positive thoughts your way!

Isn't she a beauty! It makes me feel so good to see her every day even if I don't get the chance to see her in person. Thanks David and Cristy. I'm really happy to be here with you. GA
